All nascent polypeptides pass through a tunnel in the large ribosomal subunit before they are released into the cytosol or lumen of the ER. Upon arrival at the tunnel exit they encounter a set of proteins, which are essential for their biogenesis and are therefore termed ribosome-associated protein biogenesis factors (RPBs). - Different nascent polypeptides require different RPBs.

We are interested in the function and mechanism of RPBs in eukaryotic cells.

Yeast is our favourite pet, specific questions concerning higher eukaryotes we address in mammalian cells.

 

 Research
